Hello and welcome to In the Flesh, a new-ish column wherein Team Flesh asks members of the beloved Flesh community a few random (and, we hope, fun) questions. Meet Aicha Cherif, filmmaker, student activist, and New Yorker.

1. What is your full name?

Aicha Cherif

2. Where are you from?

I'm originally from Guinea, West Africa but I was raised in NYC. 

3. What’s your shade of Flesh? 

I’m a mix of Hazelnut and Pecan! I always use with the Highlighting Balm in Squeeze.

4. What’s the first thing you do when you wake up? 

Sadly, I check my phone to turn off my alarm and then go back to bed. 

5. What is your signature beauty look? 

Lip gloss is always poppin'! 

6. Last book you read? 

Things Fall Apart, a novel written by Nigerian author Chinua Achebe. 

7. What makes you laugh? 

My friend, Hawa, and Twitter memes.

8. What is your drink of choice?

Water!

9. What’s your mantra right now?

"I can only go up from here." 

10. What is your earliest beauty memory?

When I was in middle school, I remember using my grandmother'ss makeup and doing my face before school. I put on purple lipstick and eyeshadow all over my face; I got in so much trouble. 

11. Do you have a hidden talent? 

I can speak a native Guinean language. 

12. What’s your greatest virtue? 

I treat others the way I would want to be treated.

13. What is your favorite nude painting? 

I don't really have one!

14. What advice would you give your younger self?

Be kinder to yourself.

15. What, besides sliced bread, is the best thing since sliced bread?

SkinnyPop popcorn.

16. When do you feel most at home in your flesh? 

Surrounded by my close friends and family.
